Background

The Northern Care Alliance is an NHS Group formed in 2021 by bringing together two NHS Trusts, Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust and The Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust. It is one of the largest NHS organisations in the country with over 20,000 staff serving a population of over 1 million people across local communities. Both Trusts had ageing digital platforms with CMS issues which were causing the Trust to allocate a sizeable resource to manage the platforms, with poor outcomes and little flexibility for change.

The Brief

NCA went to tender to look for a digital partner that understood the organisational challenges of bringing together four regional care organisations (Salford, Rochdale, Bury & Oldham), each with their own distinct ways of working, and providing cutting edge solutions across a range of platforms  in a very short period of time. The Trust had a legal requirement to provide new public platforms for the group within a five month period and it was essential that the new platform would work for all stakeholders.

The Project

Frank worked with different groups of stakeholders to deliver staff and public engagement sessions to understand exactly what representative groups of users would find most helpful to include across the proposed new websites. Working with different teams within the Trust, e.g. Northcare Charity, Policy Management Teams, we ran a series of microprojects, to ensure a full understanding of each groups' requirements whilst keeping the overall project team informed and up to date with the programme of work.

The new CMS represents all areas of the new organisation accurately whilst providing intuitive CMS functions that enable the Trust to greatly reduce their site management resource whilst improving the quality of provision.
